NEWS, June 2013 Hello Guys, well the committee meetings have certainly got shorter now since we have completed the review of our club rules. Hopefully you will agree that they are much clearer now and more logical to read. The feedback we have received so far has been positive and thanks must go to Andrew K for the extra effort that he has put in to making sure the document makes sense. Having gone through the rules it did make me wonder how many other clubs would have done the same? It did seem tedious to do at times but I’m sure you will agree that the rules exist primarily to ensure we can enjoy our hobby safely and not to prevent anyone having fun. The key words there being enjoy and fun - Because that is after all why we do it, isn’t it?!
Talking of fun, I recently went up to the Imperial War Museum at Duxford for their Spring Air Show. I have been there several times before but not for some years now; however it definitely has not lost its appeal as those of you that know me will know how I tend to go a little bit wobbly at the knees whenever the name Spitfire is mentioned! I’m not the world’s best photographer (the wobbly knees did not to help) but here are a couple of pictures I managed to snap:
Hullavington By now you will be aware that the Hullavington availability email will be sent out on Friday for the week ahead by Dave H. For those of you that also wish to make some forward plans and see when the airfield is likely to be available in the coming weeks and months, you can go to Google calendar as described in the emailed June 13 Newslatter to MWMAC members. Please refer to those instructions in order to log in. Obviously, the information in there is only as accurate as that obtained from the Hullavington barracks. It will be updated each Friday and also as and when we get new information. The Friday Email will remain the primary source of information for the week ahead.
There are a few rules and guidelines; - Please do not change any information in the diary. - The view can be changed to show DAY, Week or Month. - Please log-off when you have finished looking at the diary. - If one of the "events" in the calendar list on the left side of the screen is not showing a coloured box, click on it to reveal those events in the calendar. - If you have any specific questions please contact Andrew K - The password will be changed if anyone leaves the club so make sure you read the Friday email.
Thanks and I hope you find it useful. (P.S; We cannot control the weather!)
2013 Events Just a reminder again regarding the upcoming events, the first event of the year event will be the Scale & Vintage day and BBQ on Saturday 29th of June. There will be the usual awards and I’m told prizes as well . . . ! So fingers crossed for the weather. Also, following on from last year’s success we will be holding another Combat Day on Saturday 21st September and a Bring and Buy BBQ at Queens on 3rd August.
For Sale etc If anybody has anything for sale they would like popped in the newsletter please do let me know, plus Steve has added a new ‘for sale, exchange and wanted’ section to the website which is available to use.
