NEWS, January 2014 Happy New Year everyone! Ok I know we’re already a month in but better late than never! I do hope that everybody enjoyed the festive period. Thank you to all of the members who attended last years AGM, it was a good turn out and from memory (seems ages ago now) we had a productive evening. The most obvious item to come out of the AGM was Richard P’s nomination as treasurer. We all welcome Richard along to this most trusted of roles! Also Richard joined the committees first meeting earlier this month, which he said went on too late and there was too much arguing – don’t worry Richard it won’t be too long before you settle in to the way it works . . . ! (better get used to it though Richard – it’s pretty much the same every month :-)
So can anyone remember what dry weather is like . . ?! Please take it steady when going down Queen’s field, someone already got stuck in the mud. Keith S has volunteered to pull anyone else out for a fiver, worth knowing if you do happen to get in a predicament, perhaps best avoided if at all possible though.
Bob J has asked me if I could draw your attention to a rather serious article about lipo batteries in the December edition of the Bmfa news (121), just glancing at the pictures tells a story in itself! It is certainly a very cautionary article and definitely worth a read even if you have not got any lipo’s.
Richard has asked me to let everyone know that the Warminster and District model club will be holding their annual ‘Bring and Buy’ sale on Saturday the 8th March between 11am and 1pm at Trowbridge Cricket Club and it is free to attend!
Queens Field Couple of things for Queen’s Field this month apart from the previously mentioned soggy track. Firstly, we are going to pop a copy of the rules in the shed for reference and also please could we all remind ourselves about the dogleg in the runway and its uses. The two rules below should speak perfectly clearly for themselves:
10.4.1. Helicopters undertaking hovering practice must fly on the runway and take turns on the peg like everyone else.
10.4.2. The runway dogleg area to the right of the pilot’s box is an emergency runway NOT a Helicopter patch.
Hullavington Chaps please remember when you are using Hullavington; the signs must be put out and brought back in when you are finished for the days flying. See more rules below!
11.1.1. We are required by our licence to place warning signs (Caution – Model Flying taking place) at each end of both runways before flying, for ALL model types.
11.1.2. These are stored in the premises of Space Contained, Hangar 86. This hangar is situated to the left of the two hangars South West of the runway Intersection. They are available from Mr Richard G, ask at reception and produce your NWMAC membership card. The signs must be returned at the end of the flying session.
11.1.3. The Signs MUST be used by ALL members whatever model types they fly.
Constitution Change So, following on the theme of rules etc I have one more for you (just one I promise). There was much discussion at the AGM about members being able to raise issues at committee meetings so we have re-worded that part of the constitution which is now as follows:
5.12 Any member who wishes to raise an issue, concern or idea for discussion at committee meetings should either (a) seek the Chairman’s permission (permission will not be unreasonably withheld) to attend a committee meeting to raise the item as AoB or (b) detail (preferably in writing) that matter to any committee member. That committee member must then add that item to the AOB section of the next committee meeting on that members behalf. It is incumbent on that committee member to provide appropriate feedback to the member who originated the item. If the member attends the meeting the issue, concern or idea may be brought forward to the beginning of the meeting at the Chairman’s discretion.
Some Pretty Pics I shall leave you with a few pictures kindly sent to me by Alan S of his FMS Mustang and Corsair, both are fine flyers And the Corsair has twist and turn retracts and sequenced gear doors as standard!
For Sale etc If anybody has anything for sale they would like popped in the newsletter please do let me know, plus Steve has added a new ‘for sale, exchange and wanted’ section to the website which is available to use.
Thanks for reading Guys, Happy landings for now, Ed
