Hi guys, I hope that you’re well and made the most of our recent summer like weather! We have a new member in our midst – Jason Weston, I’m sure we would all like to welcome him to our club. Also congratulations to Dave Richards who has successfully passed his ‘A’ – well done! The committee would like to thank Mark Briscoe from Model Maniacs in Calne. He has kindly donated an E flight electric trainer to the club. It’s a large 60 inch span hard foam high wing model, complete with servos, electric motor, lipo battery, spectrum receiver and transmitter. It will be an ideal alternative trainer for anyone wishing to learn to fly electric.
CLUB WELFARE POLICY Manny Williamson from the BMFA attended a recent committee meeting. Our discussion was primarily about whether we should adopt a Welfare Policy to enable us to the recruit junior members. Manny explained the BMFA position and gave some excellent advice and guidance. As a result Ed Robbins proposed and Stuart Lavelle seconded a proposal that Stephen Purkiss be elected as Welfare Officer. This proposal was unanimously accepted. The committee has delegated the introduction of the Welfare Policy to the Welfare Officer and will accept his recommendations when they are complete. Once the committee has accepted the policy, probably at the next committee meeting we will be able to recruit junior members whilst some of our instructors undergo CRB checks.
MEMBERSHIP Please Note: General membership is now closed for 2012. We are only accepting new members that can be sponsored personally by a committee member or who are direct relatives of existing members. Potential junior membership (under 18's) can only be accepted after NMWAC has put in place a BMFA approved Welfare policy, this is expected to be completed this summer.
COACHING DAY Thanks to all the guys who attended the club coaching day on the 12th may, the day was attended by 12 members with the weather being a tad breezy, however fortunately there were no mishaps apart from a bump with Keith’s Pitts which suffered no damage. The next club coaching day is this coming Saturday (the 9th) Here are a few photograph’s taken by Laurie H from the coaching day on 12th May:
Two more photographs sent to me by Keith S. Keith recently won best vintage model at the David Prosser memorial trophy competition at Charlton park with his vintage power house model:
QUEENS FIELD I recently went flying at Queens field for the first time in ages last weekend and was absolutely stunned at how good our ‘little bit of England’ looks, admittedly most things look good in summer blue skies but whilst sat down after a somewhat apprehensive landing (must allow for that cross wind next time . . .) I couldn’t help but think how lucky we are that we have this space in which we can fly our models and socialise in not to mention that now getting to the car park no longer involves an off road trek across mountain like terrain! Well that’s about all for now guys, Happy landings, Ed.
