NEWS, April 2013 Ah I hear you cry! Finally one of Ed’s fantastic newsletters at long last . . . yes it has been rather a while since I last wrote a newsletter! We’ll make a start by welcoming some ‘new’ members, I say new but actually some of them joined three or four months ago! Welcome along to our club: Dick Spreadbury, John Paisley, Fred Coulson and the Hall family consisting of Ross, Helen and Jack.
Although it seems like an age ago now, but the Committee would like to thank everyone who made it to last Novembers AGM, the meeting was well attended and there was plenty of good debate!
Over the past few weeks (which have involved some very late evenings) we have been reviewing the entire club rules. This really has not been as straight forward as you might think but hopefully will be worthwhile resulting in a much clearer set of rules for the club. The updated rules will of course be sent out to all members as soon as this process has been completed.
Diary Dates The committee spearheaded (good word that) by Keith Simpkins has come up with some more events for this year’s flying season. As in previous years there will be awards and prizes for best models etc, so time to write them in the diary now and fingers and toes crossed for some actual good weather on the days:
• ‘Scale & Vintage’ day and BBQ is 29th June • Combat day is 21st September • ‘Bring & Buy’ and BBQ is 3rd August
Queens Field As has been the norm of late the field is looking smashing. You may have noticed that the warning sign on the track as you enter the field has been freshly repainted. Also we now have a shiny new pegboard which should hopefully prove more weather proof than the last one.
LiPo Safety reading If anyone keeps back copies of the BMFA news and you get a chance have a look at Chacksfield Chat from October 2011, there is some interesting advice regarding Lithium polymer safety.
For Sale If anybody has anything for sale they would like popped in the newsletter please do let me know, plus Steve has added a new ‘for sale, exchange and wanted’ section to the website which is available to use.
George Hobbs We would like to inform members of the sad news that George Hobbs has died. George had been ill for the past year, and although we may not have seen him for some little while, I'm sure we will all remember him. He was always quick to chat and had supported the Club for many years. He had a nice selection of models and was always keen to fly with us when he could.
All our thoughts are with his family at this time.
