Hi guys, summers here at last then! If you haven’t already noticed we have a new addition at Queens Field, in the form of a portaloo tucked away nice and neatly behind the shed, no more cold backsides then. I’m reliably informed that it will be kept well stocked of SOFT toilet roll but if I were you I’d just check first . . .
Just a few things in relation to the field, if you would like to cut the grass please would you liaise with our grounds man Dave Harradine (his number is on the contacts sheet). Also if anyone knows the whereabouts of the grass strimmer please can they make one of the committee aware, thank you.
Sutton Benger Produce and Craft Show We have been invited by Sutton Benger allotment association to hold a static display at their annual produce and craft show on Sunday the 12th of August at Sutton Benger recreation ground and village hall. This is an absolutely fantastic opportunity to show the ‘locals’ who we are and what we fly, therefore it is really important that as many of us turn up and display our models as possible. The show starts at 1pm so arrival at around 12pm would give us time to get ourselves sorted. If those of us who are able to make it could give Rex a ring and let him know then that would be really helpful as we’ll have a better idea of how much room we’ll need!
Kemble ‘Best of British’ Show Cirencester and district model aircraft club have invited us to join them in their static display at this year’s Kemble air show (which is now called best of British show) it is being held on 26th and 27th of August - bank holiday weekend. If you would like to display some models please get in touch with Rex ASAP as you will need to fill in an entry form and he needs to get them back to Cirencester club really pronto! Attendance means you get in the show for free!!!!!!! And the flying display looks rather good . . . . . . . . www.bestofbritishshow.co.uk
So please contact Rex as soon as you can for a form, thanks.
Aerobatic Day Although we have yet to announce a new date for the aerobatic day Keith has asked me to put a list of the manoeuvres here so that we can all practice them before hand, as it is I haven’t a clue what half of them are, so I’ll need to Google them before I can even attempt them and then I expect I’ll bottle it and carry on flying around straight (ish) and level!
There are 10 manoeuvres in total with each being marked out of 10 so a possible 100 points: • Take off and square circuit • Two consecutive rolls in either direction • Inside loop • Bunt • Stall turn • Three Turn spin • Figure of eight • Inverted figure of eight • Knife edge • Half Cuban eight
Watch this space for a new date to be confirmed!
BBQ and Scale day Thank you to everyone who came to the BBQ and scale day, the BBQ day was a tad grey with a sprinkling of rain and there was no BBQ because we’ve lost the key to the back part of the shed! This will be sorted. Cain and family brought their disposable BBQ & enjoyed eating under brollies! Also Brian decided he would have a go at driving from his home in Melksham without his transmitter, then found out it was a silly idea so he flew my wot4 instead of his own – which he said was much better than his anyway The clubs 2nd scale day was another success with a nice variety of models and a tidy little prize for Cain Barnish who won best scale and Richard Preston for winning best vintage model.
That’s all for now guys, I shall leave you with some pictures courtesy of Keith and Dave,
