Hi guys, as I write the trees outside are dropping their leaves left, right and centre. Autumn has finally a descended upon us! Although, it has taken a while, given the last minute heat wave we experienced recently. Sometimes I wonder how much easier everything would be if only one knew what the weather was going to do a couple of days in advance, ah but wait - check the weather forecast I hear you say, but come on, how often do they actually get it right!? Never mind I suppose it’s nice to have a few surprises here and there – just not wind and rain . . .
Last month saw the clubs first combat day. I wasn’t there myself (that’s right there was no way I was attaching a streamer to the back of my Acrowot! – unfortunately I had other plans) but by all accounts it was a real hoot apart from Keith crashing his model! I have attached some photos below for you all to see. Thanks must go to Keith for again organising such an enjoyable event. The Committee all agree that both the scale and combat day will definitely be on the calendar for next year!
AGM
It’s that time of year again! We have had a great turn out for the AGM in the last couple of years and it would be fantastic if this could continue. It is a good opportunity for everyone in the club to have their voices heard and it’s also great for everyone to get together over a pint. As usual if you would like to include an item you wish to be discussed in any other business, please can you send it to Dave Ruskin by the 15th of November so it can be included on the agenda.
The AGM will be held at the Bell in Sutton Benger on Tuesday 22nd November, 7.30pm start.

FLYING AREA
In order to keep Queens Field as safe as possible, we’d just like to remind everyone that helicopters must fly on the main runway, the same as any other aircraft, even when just doing hovering practice. Please see section 8 (Flying Rules Specific to Queens Field) flying standards, paragraph 4.
CLUB INSTRUCTORS
If you would like to become a club instructor please can you register with the Committee before teaching others to fly. You need not hold a ‘B’ certificate to be a club instructor but you must be registered and checked out by an examiner first.
Congratulations to Stuart Lavelle, as he has become an area chief examiner, he is now able to examine B and C tests and is an examiner tester, handy bloke to know!
CHARGING LI – PO BATTERIES
Bob Jones has kindly written the following guidance for the safe use of Li – po batteries. Please read the BMFA newsletter and handbook regarding this matter. Will all members please follow the following precautions at both flying sites:
1. Do not charge li-po batteries near other member’s cars. 2. Do not leave your li-po batteries to bake in your car on hot days 3. When charging your batteries in the pit area make sure they are a safe distance from your plane and other members models, also that you monitor them at all times. 4. When charging your batteries in your plane, make sure that your model is isolated from other members models and that you have a fire extinguisher handy, bearing in mind that water is not much use on electrical fires.
